Description

Early Leica M3 in SUPERB condition with 50mm F2 Collapsible Summicron lens + case + light meter

Leica M3, Summicron 5cm F2 Collapsible & original 1957 leather case case & light meter & Ilford HP5 film This classic combination of Leica M3 & 50mm Summicron was favoured by the great French photographer Henri Cartier Bresson. This combination would be ideal for either a collector or a photography practitioner, as it is in excellent condition mechanically and aesthetically. Early examples in this condition, which are entirely original and so well cared for, are becoming very rare. Leica cameras such as this only increase their value over time. Both the body and lens are in near-mint condition. The only tiny scuffs to report are:  1) faint marks on the light meter just above the serial number 2) barely perceptible indent on the reverse left corner. The lens is in superb condition, absolutely no fog or haze, clear of dust. Beautiful externally too. In addition, please note that this camera is the 12,015th made (of 220,000) so a very early, highly collectible model. It features Double Stroke winding, a clear frame-line preview, and the original exposure scale of 1, 2, 5, 10 etc. A wonderfully well-preserved piece of Leica history that will only grow in value over time. This camera comes with the original Leica light meter, made in Germany, with the same exposure scale, and still gives an accurate reading. Also included is the original Leica case, in very good condition. The leather exterior shows signs of normal wear, while the felt interior is in excellent condition. It is still perfectly useable and even has a delightful metal screw plate on the base to hold the camera in place. The whole ensemble is full of vintage character. Don’t miss this opportunity to own a rare piece of Leica history – this classic camera produces unmistakable results. The M3 is generally agreed to be the best camera ever produced. Another advantage is that the M series are still serviceable today in Leica stores, so this can be used for many years to come. I have also loaded a roll of black and film – Ilford HP5 ISO 400 – so you can start shooting right away.
