Qatar aiming for a Covid-free World Cup. Qatar will ensure the vaccine for everyone attending the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has said that the country is in the process of ensuring the covid vaccine for all who reach the World Cup. Discussions with vaccine providers in this regard are ongoing. It is hoped to host the 2022 Covid-free World Cup. “Qatar is ready,” he said while addressing the 2021 Rais talks.
Covid vaccination is currently in progress in the country. More than 12 lakh doses of the vaccine have already been distributed. More than 29.8 per cent of the population over the age of 16 have received at least one dose of the Covid vaccine.
The FIFA Qatar World Cup will take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022. Eight stadiums across the country will host the World Cup. Of these, four have been inaugurated. Infrastructure, including spectator accommodation, is in the final stages.
