Al Rayyan Stadium opens on December 18, Qatar’s National Day, leading to the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup. Al Rayyan Stadium’s inauguration marks the final of the Amir Cup, the largest regional football tournament in the country. The Qatar Football Association has announced that Al Rayyan will witness the final between Al Arabi and Al Sadd for the Amir Cup.
This is the fourth stadium to be completed for the World Cup. The renovated Khalifa International Stadium, Al Janoub in Al Wakrah and the Education City Stadium were inaugurated. The 40,000-seat Al Rayyan Stadium will host the group stage and Round of 16 World Cup matches. Al Rayyan Stadium was built on the site of the old Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium. Manufactured by Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), an Indian company, and Al Balag, a local company.
The desert clay-shaped stadium is a fusion of Arab tradition and local culture. The main feature of the stadium is the bright facade. The design of the facade is in a unique pattern, incorporating different perspectives of the country, such as the importance of the family, the beauty of the desert, the flora and fauna, local and international trade.
After the World Cup, half of the seats will go to sports development in developing countries. Spectators can reach Al Rayyan Stadium via the Doha Metro. The stadium is within walking distance of Al Rifa Station on the Green Line
