The water bill will increase by 20% for Expatriates. The new measure will take effect from January 2021. The new measure is a joint venture between the Public Works Department and the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). The 20% increase is due to the inclusion of a sewage disposal service fee in Kahrama’s monthly water bill.
As the January bill is due in early February, there will be a 20% increase in the bill from February. Increase in water bill for expatriate residents and expatriate commercial establishments (all types). The condition does not apply to natives. If the current bill amounts to 300 riyals, a sewage disposal service fee of 60 riyals will be charged.
The increase aims to improve the quality and efficiency of infrastructure services as well as the efficient use of water. Fees for various services provided by Ashghal to the public have been fixed since January this year. Sewage is collected, treated and used for irrigation in parks.
